Alida was the name of my father’s sailboat. I grew up in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan and if you know anything about the State of Michigan, you know it’s surrounded by a lot of water. My father, Spence, grew up racing his family sailboat in the waters of this great state – a red Cal 36. As a result, I’ve always had a fondness for being near the water and for sailing.
Currently I’m 43 years old. I live in Canton, Michigan with my beautiful wife Ellen and two incredibly awesome children…Benson (21 months) and Amelie (3 months). Ellen and I are fantastic partners who live by very similar philosophies. Wring every ounce of beauty out of the day, love your children like they are precious treasures and do whatever it takes to give them all they need to grow up happy and successful. Ellen is my best friend in the whole world and I can’t imagine going through life without her.
Benson is a physical and mental anomaly. He was walking at 7 months and by 14 months he knew the entire alphabet by sight as well as numbers 1-20. These days he spends his time repairing things around the house with a screw driver while saying…”I fix, I fix!”…or jumping off the fourth step of the playscape ladder in the backyard all the while telling you it’s, “Way too high,” to jump. Amelie is just the sweetest child. She is happy smiling, eating and sleeping…and sucking nuks like an industrial vacuum cleaner.
In this blog I’ll cover some personal and some impersonal topics so come along for the ride, it’s going to be a great journey!
